This story follows a mysterious main character stuck in a secret government facility called Lengard, she is Subject Six-Eight-Four, also known as ‘Jane Doe’. She’s been experimented and tested on for over two years but she still has never said a word. Jane’s resolve is slowly breaking when her new evaluator treats her kindly instead of harshly.

I give this book three stars. I really liked this book’s plot and the concept of having magic abilities when you speak. However, even though I loved the plot I also found it a bit confusing at times. It’s a bit complicated because you learn things as the main character does. At first it’s kind of a mystery what’s going on and to a certain extent it still is at the end.

When I first read this book there was no published sequel and at first I was confused because it seemed like there should be more to the and I was trying to guess what happens next. The ending doesn’t have a final conclusion or any of the major problems solved. But it does show major change and character growth for the main character.
I totally wish that I could have kept reading to find out what happens next in the story without having to switch books or stop reading. There were lots of things that still needed to be resolved and the ending of the book was kind of like the calm before the storm.
The sequel is called Weapon and there’s also a book with both the stories in one. I haven’t read it yet but am currently adding it to my reading list and I will publish a review for it after I read it.
Besides how it ends I think this book is really good and I really enjoyed reading it. There’s a lot of major plot twists and reveals in this book, so be aware of that going into it. I also think some of the concepts and themes are a bit more mature so it’s definitely a YA book and I’d recommend this more to people who are older.
